After a Delhi court decided to extend Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody, his wife Sunita Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing them of attempting to keep the AAP leader in jail in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sunita Kejriwal expressed confidence that the people of the nation would respond to what she referred to as “dictatorship.”

Questioning the motives behind her husband’s detention, Sunita Kejriwal asserted, “Why has he been sent to jail? The people of the country will answer to this dictatorship,” following the court hearing.

Amidst the ongoing political developments, BJP leader and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri drew comparisons between Sunita Kejriwal and Rabri Devi, the wife of Lalu Yadav, who took over as Chief Minister of Bihar when her husband faced imprisonment in a corruption case.

Puri remarked, “A Rabri Devi is in the making.
In a further attack on Arvind Kejriwal, Puri questioned the ability of the AAP leader to conduct cabinet meetings as two other party leaders, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, are also currently in jail.
The ED custody of Arvind Kejriwal has been extended until April 15, as per the latest legal proceedings.

Bansuri Swaraj, another BJP leader, echoed the sentiment that Kejriwal should continue to remain imprisoned, citing a lack of public support during a recent rally.

On a similar note, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi drew parallels between Lalu Prasad Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal, insinuating that the former serves as a guiding figure for the latter.

The court, meanwhile, has instructed the Tihar Jail authorities to allow Arvind Kejriwal access to medicines, books, a suitable workspace, religious items, and a specific diet. Additionally, Arvind Kejriwal had requested various books for reading during his detention.

The charges against Arvind Kejriwal relate to the liquor policy case, with AAP alleging that his arrest was a deliberate tactic to impede his participation in the electoral campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.
